The Staycation in Park Royal Penang
When you mentioned Park Royal Penang in Batu Ferringhi, many will tell you stories on the history of the hotel. While many locals still live in the past, the hotel has move on. In fact, the hotel has gone through a revamp with a huge renovation on their hotel rooms. The legacy remains with new directions.
Penang has changed for good in the past few years. More places for good food and more hotels are opening on the island. To drive from Kuala Lumpur to Penang, it should take less than five hours drive (without speeding) with leisure speed and it will take an hour for a plane ride. We chose to drive because we wanted to travel freely on the island.
It didn?t take us long to reach Park Royal Hotel. Even though the exterior looks the same but the interior is a world of its own. I always feel that hotel services in Malaysia fares poorer compare to our neighbours but in Park Royal Penang they proved me wrong. Doormen and front desk staffs were helpful and friendly.
We got ourselves a beautiful seaview room. I love how the newly renovated hotel rooms. It looks like new!
?
The swimming pools in Park Royal Penang must be mentioned. They have two swimming pools, one for the adults and one for the children.
If you are bringing your kids for a staycation in Park Royal, they will love the children?s pool. It is like mini water theme park but it is always advisable parents or guardians should be around when the kids are playing in the pool
If you are a beach person, just walk a few steps and you will be greeted by the beautiful Batu Ferrighi white sandy beach. Facing the Strait of Malacca, there are varieties of sports activities available.
Having a brisk walk or even a jog at this beautiful beach during morning or evening is relaxing. Usually the sea water here is not that rough so swimming in the sea is consider safe. Jelly fish attacks are rare in Penang.
If you don?t want to soak into the sea water, you can always sun bathing at the benches available exclusive for hotel guests.
Breakfast in Parkroyal Penang was not disappointing as well. I thought it will be the same old typical ?Malaysia hotel breakfast? and I was wrong. They have local Penang food like char kuey teow and nasi lemak for breakfast.
I stayed two nights in Parkroyal Penang and it was blissful. Due to Rachel?s pregnancy, we stayed in the hotel most of the time and we didn?t even make time for the Batu Ferringhi night market. Please don?t be fooled by the exterior and the history of the hotel as the rooms were renovated and rejuvenated. If you are planning to visit Penang for a staycation, ParkRoyal Penang Batu Ferringhi is an option for you.

Two United Nations specialist agencies, the International Civil Aviation Authority (ICAO) and the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), may this year separately agree a basis on which all carriers by sea and air will limit their carbon emissions.
Aviation is reported to be contributing around two per cent of global carbon emissions, and maritime transport more than three per cent.
At issue, is whether such reductions should result from a form of taxation involving licensing with revenue flowing to governments, or whether the industries themselves should take measures to mitigate their emissions.
Up to now, when it comes to aviation, Australia, United Kingdom, European Union, and other nations have been trying to achieve reductions by imposing solutions on aviation in a piecemeal manner.
In the case of Europe, this involved the inclusion of aviation into the EU's wider emissions trading scheme (EU-ETS) as of January 1, 2013.
Under the regulation, all airlines entering EU airspace have to purchase or trade licences to emit above an agreed amount of carbon dioxide.
However, so far, this has had no effect, partly because the price at which carbon is traded has collapsed, but more recently because the scheme has been suspended for a year, awaiting the outcome of ICAO's global discussions on limiting aviation emissions.
What this now means is that in September, when ICAO's 191-member triennial general assembly meets in Montreal, governments attending are expected to consider the type of mechanism that can best be applied globally to aviation.
If no decision is taken at that time and the matter is delayed until the next ICAO assembly in 2016, then an international confrontation is expected over how best to address aviation emissions.
This is because the EU, having manipulated the carbon market, is likely to unilaterally reintroduce aviation into its emissions trading scheme, with nations including China and the US possibly then going as far as an action at the WTO against the EU.
That said, however, some recent developments may offer a way out of the potential for gridlock.
In June, airline members of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) meeting in Cape Town adopted a resolution at their annual general meeting on an 'Aviation Carbon-Neutral Growth Strategy'.
This provides a set of principles that IATA hopes governments meeting at ICAO will adopt.
REAL REDUCTION
In outline, IATA members are proposing a scheme that will fill the gap until new technology in the form of sustainable low-carbon alternative fuels or changes in operations and aviation infrastructure come to pass. Instead of developing a global scheme like the EU-ETS that generates revenue for governments, airlines are suggesting a system that would deliver real emissions reductions post 2020, the date by which aviation globally is required to cut emissions.
All of which is breaking new ground, as aviation is, it seems, the first industry to propose a global cap on its carbon emissions. Irrespective, the idea may prove controversial with those governments who see environmental taxation as a revenue-raising measure.
A similar situation is developing in respect of maritime transport which includes cruise ships.
Although the European Commission was supposed to include maritime emissions in the EU-ETS at the start of 2013, it announced last October it would give the IMO more time. But more recently, as an interim measure, it has now proposed monitoring greenhouse-gas emissions from all ships calling at EU ports as a first step towards a licensing system to reduce shipping emissions.
For its part, the IMO is now developing a similar approach aimed at delivering emissions reductions. However, many in the shipping industry want this linked to fuel consumption rather than a system based on emissions trading.
As for the cruise ships, they, like the airlines, are looking at ways to mitigate their emissions, not least because the US and Canada have introduced a North American Emissions Control Area, a zone extending to 200 miles offshore but much narrower where it touches The Bahamas and Cuba's economic zones, and consequently, more favourable to home porting in South Florida.
The consequence is that for the time being cruise companies are relocating as far south as possible while at the same time investigating ways of developing new sea-borne technology that aims to scrub carbon dioxide from engine exhausts.
Whatever the final solution is for aviation or maritime transport, anything that makes travel from, to, or in the Caribbean more expensive should be of concern.
Not only does it touch the ability of citizens to travel in and beyond the region, but it affects the competitiveness of tourism, the industry that contributes most to the region's development.
Although the amount the new measures may increase the price tickets by may not be large, taken together with other charges levied by governments, shipping lines, and cruise ship companies they combine to act as a disincentive.
Despite the growing recognition across the region about the challenge posed of adding further to the cost of Caribbean travel, it is hard to identify any awareness in the region of the changes that governments may agree at ICAO or the IMO.
What this points to is the absence of any joined-up Caribbean policy that links tourism, climate change, taxation, with aviation and maritime emissions; or any sense that these issues are related.
What has so far not happened - and in a different Caribbean this would be a role for Cariforum - is any calculation or impact study based on an in-depth locally led consultation with interested parties as to how these factors fit together and the range of likely economic outcomes.
Instead, the probability is that government, attracted by the tax revenue, will see any measure that brings fresh income as the answer, without any thought about the likely long-term impact on competitiveness or visitor arrivals, let alone the impact of Caribbean citizens' ability to travel at low cost within their own region.

In the last two years or so, Nigeria has been faced with severe security challenges that have threatened the soul of the nation.? Places of worship have been desecrated; homes, media houses, national and international institutions have been torched; and lives have been wasted, the recent being the murder of 29 harmless school children in Yobe State.
?Like all Nigerians, I?m worried too. Therefore, this week, I will highlight what ICT can do to help deal with the security challenges the nation is grappling with.
?ICT has made living and work a lot easier. Security experts say it is possible to see through security breaches and nip them in the bud with ICT-enabled gadgets and software before they blossom.
?Here are some ways that ICT-based technologies can assist security agencies in achieving more efficiency and effectiveness in their operations.
?Surveillance: Surveillance is a deliberate system of keeping a close watch on the behaviours or activities of persons, groups, organisations and institutions suspected of doing something illegal or warehousing information capable of causing a breach of security by government?s security agencies.
?This could be done electronically with Closed Circuit Television cameras or interception of electronically transmitted information (such as Internet traffic or phone calls) or by means of low-technology methods such as human intelligence agents and postal interception.
?Other means include: surveillance cameras, social network analysis, biometric surveillance, data mining and profiling, corporate surveillance, satellite imagery, radio-frequency identification and geo-location devices to mount surveillance on suspected targets.
?Intelligence Gathering: Intelligence gathering helps security agencies to keep tabs on the activities of suspected groups, organisations or persons likely to breach the peace. Today, such ICT tools as the internet, mobile telephony system, social media networks and the media have become veritable platforms for intelligence gathering efforts of our security agencies, so long as they observe the ethics of using these technologies for intelligence gathering purposes.
?Communication: Intercepting communication between terror groups and enhancing intelligence sharing and other collaborative measures between security agencies is now absolutely possible through ICT. We now have electronic devices and gadgets with in-built unique identification numbers that makes them electronically traceable regardless of location. So it?s no longer impossible to track communication devices or gadgets used by criminal gangs or groups.
?Financing: ICT is a vital tool for tracking, tracing and investigating suspected financial transactions funnelled to criminal activities. With the recent introduction of cash-less society, transactions will be done on electronic platforms where suspicious cash movements can be identified and questioned. This would go a long way in curbing the financing of activities that constitute a threat to national security because no terrorist group or gang can operate without funding.
?Coordination: Security agencies can minimise duplication of efforts, guard against the mishandling of information as well as enhance information sharing among them for a better management of our national security through ICT. This involves pulling the nation?s data into a coordinated and centralised database as a proactive means of combating insecurity.
?In his paper titled: Information Communication Technology and National Security in Nigeria, the Director-General, Nigeria Governors? Forum Secretariat, A.B Okauru, suggested the development of a Central Intelligence Unit or Counter Terrorism Unit with a robust, dynamic, vibrant and updated central database for the country.
?According to him, the centralised database should contain every data and details of the nation.? An example is the conversion of the National Identification Card into an electronic form as well as making all the identification (drivers? licence, SIM card registration, National ID etc.) into a single digital electronic form and uploaded on a central database.
?Identification: In advanced countries of the world, birth and death registration, in addition to unifying various identification initiatives, plays significant roles in national security, especially when combined with DNA, facial recognition and finger printing technologies which operate on platforms provided by ICT. That is why it is easier in those climes to easily track down criminals.
?Public enlightenment: Recently, a church unveiled its e-portal system that computerised membership registration and other ancillary services. Managers of this e-portal send regular precautionary SMS alerts that assist members to be at alert and take precautionary measures. Sensitisation and advocacy on security enlightenment issues using ICT-driven solutions, therefore, can play significant roles in tackling insecurity in the country.
?I am aware that a lot of seminars and conferences have been held on security issue on many occasions in Nigeria. This is good, but I think that it is time to ?walk the talk? because the recent killing of school children in Yobe State tells one story ? the perpetrators are not done yet. In fact, they are becoming deadlier and more sophisticated by the day.
?Reports show that the United States and some countries in Europe, Asia, Middle East and even in Africa are taking proactive steps at checkmating threats to their national security by latching onto revolutions in ICT. Besides its speed, technology-driven surveillance and intelligence gathering cost less in terms of men and logistics. That is why terrorists? attacks in the magnitude of 9/11 may never happen again.
Our government, therefore, needs to do more than talking by acting now.

The best podcast apps for finding and subscribing to new shows, keeping your shows in sync, and enjoying them on your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad no matter where you are.
Depending on who you ask, podcasts are either fringe media for geeks, the future of radio and television, or something in between. Apple embraced them years ago, providing an entire section in iTunes dedicated to making podcasts easy to find and easy to follow. They also created the iPod, and then the iPhone, and the iPad, making it just as easy to listen and watch podcasts anywhere and everywhere you go. But what's the best way to do it? Whether you're trying to get our podcasts - iMore show, Debug, Iterate, Ad hoc, Vector, or ZEN & TECH - or any of the other great internet shows, here are our favorite podcast apps to do it with!
Podcasts
Podcasts is Apple's own podcast app. It doesn't come pre-loaded on iOS, so you have to download it separately, but it is functional and it is free. Podcasts lets you browse the iTunes podcasts catalog, subscribe to shows, and listen to or watch them. You can also create custom stations, and on-the-go playlists so you've always got something ready when and where you want it. It's quick and easy to use, however it doesn't scale well if you have tons of shows and episodes to manage.
Because it's free and relatively simple, Podcasts is a great choice for anyone just getting started with podcasts, or anyone who wants a no frills app to manage a small set of shows.
Instacast keeps re-inventing itself which means you do have to re-buy the app more frequently than others, but you also get some significant updates each time. Most recently Instacast switched from iCloud sync to their own service. It does require a free account, but it's rock-solid. Instacast includes its own directory and rankings, and a slew of power-user features, though it keeps them accessible and easy to use. There's also a Mac version, so you can have Instacast on all your Apple devices.
If you want to keep your podcasts perfectly in sync from iPhone and iPod touch, to iPad, to Mac, Instacast is your best option.
Downcast is both easy to get started with, but also full of power features for power users. The interface is straight forward and direct, so it's easy to find, subscribe to, and play what you want. However, Downcast also provides a large amount of settings you can tweak for everything from gesture shortcuts to skip backwards and forwards, to how long and what to keep locally on your device.
If you subscribe to a lot of podcasts and want to micro-manage everything from how they're stored to how you navigate through them, get Downcast.
Despite those Shifty Jellys updating Android to the new version of Pocket Casts before iOS, even the old version does such interesting things it's impossible to leave off the list. Pocket Casts' magic is on the server side. They maintain their own director, and do a lot of things to ensure the quality and reliability of their catalog. That might not sound like it makes a big difference, but it really can.
If you've ever been frustrated by lack of curation, out of date listings, or any other problems with raw podcast feeds and updates, Pocket Casts is worth a look.
While there are lots of podcast apps on App Store, these are the ones we've found that offer the best service for the most people. Everyone's personal taste, and use case, varies, however, so if we missed out on including your favorite podcast app, make sure you tell us all about it in the comments!
Hedge fund manager David Einhorn, the one who publicly asked Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer to leave the company two years ago, is back with more criticism for the Redmond-based tech giant.
This time, Einhorn has decided to dump his Microsoft stock, claiming that the company is shrinking and pointing to the same management team he also criticized in the past.
Furthermore, the hedge fund manager explained that Windows 8 is a disappointing product and the lack of innovation at Microsoft does nothing more than to accelerate the company's shrinking.
?In 2006 we compared Microsoft to A-Rod, which was a compliment at the time. In 2013, the comparison is still apt, but it is no longer a compliment.?Windows?8 appears to be a flop, and a decade of mismanagement has put Microsoft at risk of becoming a shrinking company,? he said in a letter to partners.
?We were pleased when an activist gave the stock a boost, giving us the opportunity to exit with an annualized high single-digit return that slightly outpaced the market during our lengthy holding period.?
Microsoft hasn't yet issued a public response on this, but the company would most likely remain tight-lipped as things don't seem to get any better for CEO Steve Ballmer.
According to insiders, ValueAct Capital, an investing firm that recently purchased a large stake in Microsoft, is trying to get a board seat and thus be one of those deciding the company's future.
The problem is that the people behind ValueAct Capital don't seem to support Steve Ballmer, so in case they do manage to receive a seat in the company's board, the CEO might be again on thin ice.
In the meantime, Ballmer has pushed Microsoft into another major restructuring process supposed to put the focus on devices and services and thus get the company back on track in approximately one year.

Last month the American Society for Nutrition (ASN) reaffirmed in a report that fiber-rich whole grains lower the risks of diabetes and heart disease. Media outlets such as Reuters duly reported the news, but many failed to point out a crucial detail: some whole grains may do nothing to reduce disease risks. In fact, many foods legally marketed as whole grains could actually harm health. The term ?whole grain? might evoke an image of a whole, intact grain?that is, a fiber-rich coating of bran surrounding a starchy endosperm and a small reproductive kernel known as the germ. But in a definition created in 1999 by the American Association of Cereal Chemists (AACC) International, an organization of food industry professionals and scientists, and adopted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in 2006, ?whole grain? refers to any mixture of bran, endosperm and germ in the proportions one would expect to see in an intact grain?yet the grains can be, and usually are, processed so that the three parts are separated and ground before being incorporated into foods. (Refined grains, on the other hand, are grains that have been stripped of their bran and germ.) For a food product to be considered whole grain, the FDA says it must contain at least 51 percent of whole grains by weight. Compared with intact grains, though, processed whole grains often have lower fiber and nutrient levels. In what it calls a scientific statement the ASN reviewed studies published about whole grains between 1965 and 2010. Descriptions in many studies did not conform to the current definition in that they considered foods such as wheat germ and bran cereals to be whole grain. (Both are now considered partsof a whole grain.) Ultimately, the researchers found that the only whole-grain-rich diets that reduced the risk of heart disease and type 2 diabetes were those that included bran as a whole grain or those that contained high amounts of fiber. Studies of ?whole grains using the currently accepted definition don?t have enough data to support them for preventing these different chronic diseases,? says co-author David Klurfeld, the national program leader for human nutrition in the Agricultural Research Service at the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Missing fiber One problem with the current definition of ?whole grain? is that it doesn?t account for fiber?and many whole grain products on supermarket shelves contain very little. An individual would have to eat 10 bowls of Multi-grain Cheerios, 16 slices of whole-wheat bread, or nine cups of brown rice to get the fiber recommended for an American adult for one day. ?There?s nothing wrong with eating brown rice, but you can't expect health benefits if you're going to be eating brown rice as your source of whole grains,? Klurfeld explains. The common processing of whole grains?which can involve grinding, puffing and flaking them?can also impact their healthfulness. Processing can make whole grains tastier; it can give them a longer shelf life, too, by removing fats from the outer layer of the grain that can turn rancid. But some processing techniques have been shown to degrade natural antioxidants and reduce fiber content. In fact, the AACC International recently proposed modifying its definition of ?whole grain? to allow for some nutrient losses during processing. Individuals also absorb the sugars from some processed whole grains more quickly than they do those from intact whole grains, triggering blood sugar spikes that can ?possibly increase hunger, lead to overeating and increase the risk for diseases related to insulin resistance, like diabetes and heart disease,? says David Ludwig, a professor of nutrition at the Harvard School of Public Health. For instance, bread made from 80 percent?whole-wheat kernels is absorbed much more slowly than bread made from ground whole wheat. When a person eats intact grains, the body has to break down the outer bran before digesting the inner endosperm and germ. Ground grains often don?t provide these metabolic brakes. Fast-cooking penalty But even when whole grains aren?t ground, they can be processed in ways that can cause metabolic problems. In a 1999 study Ludwig and his colleagues split 12 obese teenage boys into groups. Some were given a breakfast of instant oatmeal, in which whole oats have been rolled and steamed so that they cook quickly. Other boys were given steel-cut oatmeal, comprising whole oats that have been sliced but not steamed. Although both meals had the same calorie and fiber content, the instant oats triggered much larger blood sugar spikes (a reflection of how quickly they were absorbed) and caused the boys to consume 53 percent more calories at lunch than the boys who ate the steel-cut oats. (A third group of boys were given identically caloric breakfasts of vegetable omelets and fruit and ate 81 percent fewer calories at lunchtime than did the instant oat eaters.) Food companies lump ground whole grains, partially processed grains and intact unprocessed grains together under the same broad category of ?whole grains,? so it?s difficult for consumers to know which they?re getting. Whole-grain foods can also contain unhealthy additives. In January Ludwig and other Harvard researchers compared the nutrient composition of 545 grain products and found that those labeled with the ?Whole Grain? stamp, an industry-sponsored label for foods containing at least eight grams of whole grains per serving, contained more calories and sugar than those without the stamp. They were also more expensive. When a food is marketed as containing whole grains, ?it takes on a ?health halo,? and companies can slip in all sorts of junk without people recognizing what they're getting,? Ludwig says. Joanne Slavin, professor of food science and nutrition at the University of Minnesota, who served on the committee for the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, agrees that many foods with whole-grain labels are ?really not very nutritious food products.? More isn?t good So how did ?whole grain? become synonymous with ?healthy?? Part of the confusion stems from the U.S. dietary guidelines, which recommend that individuals triple their consumption of whole-grain foods from an average of one ounce per day to three ounces. But the goal is for Americans to replace half of their refined grains with whole grains, not to eat whole grains in addition to the refined ones they have been eating, Slavin explains. ?We don?t want people to think that because a food has whole grains, they should eat more of it,? she says. ?Grains in general are overconsumed in the U.S.? Another reason whole grains may seem more healthful than they really are: people who eat lots of them tend to make smarter lifestyle choices in general. A 2006 study (pdf) reported that the quartile of people who eat the most whole grains are less than half as likely to smoke and 25 percent more likely to regularly exercise as the quartile of people who eat the least whole grains. If one clear piece of advice is emerging about whole grains, it is that individuals should buy whole grains that are high in fiber: All of the diets that reduced disease risk in the ASN?s review were high in fiber or fiber-rich bran, and Ludwig and his colleagues found in their 2013 study that whole-grain foods with a ratio higher than one to 10 of fiber to total carbohydrate also contained less sugar, sodium and trans fats than other whole-grain products. People should consider cooking with intact whole grains, too, such as whole-wheat berries or spelt. And when in doubt, consumers should always trust their nutritional instincts. ?If it?s a whole-grain cookie, you probably don?t need it,? Slavin says. Deep down, most people already know that. Marcel Theroux is plotting his trip to Denver based on suggestions from his Twitter followers.
Staff Denver Business Journal
Marcel Theroux, a novelist who lives in Britain, is steering his way from Las Vegas to Denver based on where his Twitter followers are telling him to go, The Guardian newspaper reports.
Theroux and his traveling companions crossed into Colorado Wednesday before stopping for the night in Cortez. Theroux comes by his wanderlust naturally; his father is the American travel writer Paul Theroux.
The younger Theroux, who tweets as @Therouvian, is even asking his followers to suggest where to eat and what music to listen to as he makes his way toward Denver. He's sharing the driving with his friend, musician Andy Maclure.
As he wrote earlier this month in announcing his plans: "Help free us from the blandness of the interstate and peer into the nooks and corners of the country."
The community is behind the Joplin R-8 Administration's decision to pay $15,000 in $1,000 stipends for people to update the Facebook pages at each school, according to Superintendent C. J. Huff
In a posting on the KSNF website, Huff explained the reasons the positions were added:
Each school will have a point person to keep the pages current.? "So that parents get the most up to date information about what's happening inside those schools," said Dr. Huff.? Administrators claim having someone on the inside is the best way to communicate.? "The information that gets posted is best posted on the local level, at the school building level. Having a way to not only communicate internally with the building but externally with their parents," said Dr. Huff.? Each communicator will be paid an extra thousand dollars for their work. Administrators say the community supports the board's decision to reestablish the positions.

Sony Santa Monica have taken to Twitter with a teaser video posted via Instagram.
Before you get your pants in a bunch the bitesize clip clearly shows footage from God of War: Ascension; its competitive multiplayer to be more specific.
As Hercules watches from the outskirts of an arena, two champion trigger what can only be described as a co-op finisher on their hapless adversary.
Whether this is a new mode or just another update in the pipeline remains unclear. Players who shelled out for the Ascension season pass haven?t seen a nugget of content bar a selection of multiplayer weapons and armour. Could the studio finally be announceing a substantive add-on for Kratos? latest outing?
Meanwhile, Santa Monica confirmed that a new ?large? competitive map is coming along with a new weapon type, ?the Gauntlets.? Both will be free to all players.
LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) -- Officials say animal cruelty charges are pending against two people in north-central Idaho in separate cases.
The Lewiston Tribune ( http://bit.ly/13xlFlr ) reports that Jonathan A. McKenney has been charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty after prosecutors said three malnourished dogs were taken from his Clearwater County residence. McKenney is expected to enter a plea on Wednesday.
In a separate case, Clearwater County Prosecutor Clayne Tyler says charges are pending against a woman after police found 22 cats and five small dogs inside her home. Clearwater Humane Society Director Sherrie Chambers says the animals were sick, had been living in a home covered in feces and urine, and most had never been outside. Those animals have been placed in foster homes for now.

The switching of rumors surrounding an iPad mini 2 release date has been pretty interesting the last couple of weeks, and the blog at the center of these apparent insider leaks has fooled so many websites along the way but certainly not consumers. The iPad mini 2 has never been delayed, even though one blog claimed to have insider information pointing to this, but has since reversed this very detail gaining buzz again from the original rumor they spread.
Most of our readers will know the blog we are talking about, which goes by the name of Digi Times, and as our readers have pointed out before this blog has become extremely unreliable. They continually state, ?our unnamed source? and then at a later date these very sources deliver news that totally contradicts the previous statements.
This hasn?t stopped blogs and mainstream media jumping on the details they share, which they share in the form of almost fact. So, hearing that the same blog has now stated the iPad mini 2 release date will be in October around one year after the first generation hasn?t surprised us. This led to hundreds of blogs writing titles along the lines of, ?iPad mini 2 back on track?.
We cannot help but laugh at so many websites grabbing every detail without questioning it, or at least adding their own opinion after some research. This has led to a lot of news reports claiming the iPad mini 2 would launch in early 2014, and now they say it is coming this year after all.
Personally, we have expected the iPad mini 2 to release in October all along, so our best advice is to ignore reports coming from sites like Digi Times, or at the very least have a read and laugh at how they continually contradict themselves.
You can expect the iPad mini 2 release date around one year after the first launch, so that?s in Oct/Nov. If you want to understand any problems with the Retina, then this iPad mini 2 article on Product Reviews will clarify any issues that in a nutshell are to do with battery life.
More importantly, during this iPad mini 2 release date dance blogs keep reporting there has been some more interesting stories, which include this leaked image that could very well be the 2nd generation iPad.
In the last 13 years, the Buffalo Bills have missed the playoffs, however, not every year was it due to lack of talent. In fact, some years the injury bug bit the team hard and it seemed like the Bills were close to picking out fans in the stands to fill in at certain positions. For example, in 2007, 17 players were put on season-ending injured reserve including 10 players who were regular participants throughout the season.
This year, it seems like no exception with this Bills team as there is an extreme amount of talent on the team, however, there are at least five guys this year that are irreplaceable to say the least. If these guys play great, the team will go far, if not or a few of them get hurt, 14 years without a playoff appearance will be an almost certainty and Bills fans will become yet even more jaded.
These five guys are all familiar faces to Bills fans, and the good news is that there are no rookies on this list. That being said, all the players on this list are less than 30 years old, then again, they are an extremely young team.
It should be noted that Jairus Byrd isn?t on this since he officially, as of this writing, is not part of the Buffalo Bills since he hasn?t signed his franchise tender. All in all, it should be an interesting 2013 if the injury bug doesn?t bite this Bills team and these five guys play exceptionally well this year, which is expected.
So, I was searching for pornography on Tumblr this morning. (It was work-related!) Word was, the now-Yahoo-owned blogging network made a significant change to the way adult-themed blogs could be discovered on the site, which even further hid their content from public consumption. Tumblr finally addressed the issue this afternoon, following user outcry.

Researchers from UCLA's Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center have discovered that specific types of bacteria that live in the gut are major contributors to lymphoma, a cancer of the white blood cells.
Published online ahead of press today in the journal Cancer Research, the study was led by Robert Schiestl, member of the Jonsson Cancer Center and professor of pathology and laboratory medicine, environmental health sciences, and radiation oncology.
In rodents, intestinal bacteria influence obesity, intestinal inflammation and certain types of epithelial cancers. (Epithelial cancers affect the coverings of the stomach, liver or colon.) However, little is known about the identity of the bacterial species that promote the growth of, or protect the body from, cancer or about their effect on lymphoma.
Up to 1,000 different species of bacteria (intestinal microbiota) live in the human gut. Intestinal microbiota number 100 trillion cells; over 90 percent of the cells in the body are bacteria. The composition of each person's microbiome the body's bacterial make-up is very different, due to the types of bacteria people ingest early in their lives, as well as the effects of diet and lifestyle.
Schiestl's group wanted to determine whether differences in peoples' microbiomes affect their risk for lymphoma, and whether changing the bacteria can reduce this risk. They studied mice with ataxia-telangiectasia (A-T), a genetic disease that in humans and mice is associated with a high rate of B-cell lymphoma. They discovered that, of mice with A-T, those with certain microbial species lived much longer than those with other bacteria before developing lymphoma, and had less of the gene damage (genotoxicity) that causes lymphoma.
"This study is the first to show a relationship between intestinal microbiota and the onset of lymphoma," Schiestl said. "Given that intestinal microbiota is a potentially modifiable trait, these results hold considerable promise for intervention of B-cell lymphoma and other diseases."
The scientists also were able to create a detailed catalog of bacteria types with promoting or protective effects on genotoxicity and lymphoma, which could be used in the future to create combined therapies that kill the bacteria that promote cancer (as antibiotics do) and increase the presence of the bacteria that protect from cancer (as probiotics do).

UCLA's Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center has more than 240 researchers and clinicians engaged in disease research, prevention, detection, control, treatment and education. One of the nation's largest comprehensive cancer centers, the Jonsson center is dedicated to promoting research and translating basic science into leading-edge clinical studies. In July 2012, the Jonsson Cancer Center was once again named among the nation's top 10 cancer centers by U.S. News & World Report, a ranking it has held for 12 of the last 13 years.
